Kickstarter Project Update #3, our results from efficacy and play testing Why did we play test? We play tested to make sure kids could play the game and had fun doing so, an important step for both entertainment and educational games. What do we mean by efficacy testing? We had a diverse group of kids answer questions about their knowledge of science and their favorite subjects. Next, we gathered lots of data while they played the game, and again afterward. Our results were GREAT.

ROCHESTER, NY-- Second Avenue Learning was featured in the Democrat and Chronicle in an article promoting serious game development in the Rochester region. Mom's wrong! Video games could help you focuses on games for health and the benefits that they carry, highlighting research from Second Avenue, Rochester Institute of Technology and the University of Rochester. Supported with a grant from the National Science Foundation and led by CEO Victoria Van Voorhis, Second Avenue's Martha Madison's Marvelous Machines is a collaborative game for middle school students that teaches physical science. Using simple machines, students learn through connecting real life experiences to those in the game. There are no penalties for failure, encouraging students to test multiple paths to success. Release of the game is planned for the 2013-2014 school year.
