ROCHESTER, NY – Second Avenue Software, Inc. has created narrative content for a set of business training simulations developed by Pearson Education, Inc.

Each simulation presents a sample business situation representing a particular topic, such as team building or consumer behavior. In the tradition of “Choose Your Own Adventure” novels and text-based computer adventure games, but updated with a modern interface and high-quality graphics, the user is presented with a situation and asked to select a response. The game narrative changes based on the responses made by the user.

The software engine for these simulations was already in development. It was Second Avenue’s job to translate the textbook concepts into tangible, creative, interactive examples that the user could explore. With a team of in-house talent and subject matter experts, Second Avenue created realistic business situations and characters, developed fictitious companies and goals, devised the numerous possible story paths that the user could follow, and authored manuscripts and flowcharts to communicate the logical structure of each simulation to the client.

“Second Avenue Software appreciates the opportunity to work with Pearson Education in the development of innovative multimedia content,” says Dr. John Boersma, Second Avenue’s Vice-President of Academic Content. “The resulting software enables business students to build real-world skills in a simulated management environment.”
